Experience

Rodrigo joined our firm in 1996, and has been a partner since 2010. His practice focuses on the areas of Finance and Banking Law, Securities Market and Foreign Investment, advising Chilean and foreign banks and financial institutions and Chilean companies on project finance, issuance of debt and capital instruments, syndicated loans and other financial transactions. Rodrigo provides permanent support to multinational consortiums and national and foreign banks in the financing of electricity distribution and generation projects, especially regarding renewable energies, and financing of infrastructure under the Public Works Concessions Law. He is in permanent contact with the Central Bank of Chile, the Financial Market Commission and other government agencies of Chile. Since 2004 he has regularly provided advice to Chilean State companies, such as Empresa de los Ferrocarriles del Estado (EFE) and Empresa de Transporte de Pasajeros Metro S.A., in several financing processes in both the Chilean and foreign capital markets, and also in the banking area.

 

In addition, Rodrigo has worked in Commercial  Law, providing advice to national and multinational companies on their investments in Chile, and to foreign corporations on their incorporation, capitalization, development of new businesses, joint ventures and sale of shares or businesses, in Chile or abroad. He also has experience in aeronautical issues and provides advice to international airlines in relation to Chilean aeronautical regulations and other related matters. Before joining Cariola, he worked from 1994 to 1996 as an associate lawyer at the law firm Clifford Chance, in New York City, United States of America, providing advice to Latin American companies on their privatization, IPO and project finance processes in the international securities markets and banking markets.
